WBMC Membership Information

PURPOSE OF MEMBERSHIP

WBMC's membership program aims to create a unified, active, and empowered Muslim community in West Berkshire. By offering options for both financial and voluntary contributions, we welcome every individual to participate in the growth and success of our Centre regardless of their financial capacity.

MEMBERSHIP GOALS

  • Strengthen community ties and increase participation
  • Support the operational and development needs of WBMC
  • Encourage volunteerism and Islamic brotherhood/sisterhood
  • Provide a clear structure for communication, engagement, and governance

Members can choose either a donation or a volunteer commitment. Volunteer hours must be logged and approved monthly.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Social event setup and management (Eid, Iftar, youth events, etc)
  • Education (Admin work, Arabic, Quran, tutoring, etc)
  • Centre maintenance
  • Friday prayer logistics
  • Outreach and interfaith events
  • Admin and marketing support

Whether contributing money or time, both are acts of Saddaqah and are essential for the success of our Centre.

GOVERNANCE & RIGHTS

  • Active Members and above may vote in AGM and key decisions
  • A Shura (consultation) panel will be formed from Supporters and Patrons for programme planning and feedback
  • Annual reports and updates will be shared with all members

MEMBERSHIP SIGN-UP & TRACKING

  • Members can sign up online or in-person
  • Monthly volunteer logs will be submitted and reviewed
  • Donations managed securely via standing order or online payments
  • Member engagement tracked via events, classes, and feedback forms

RECOGNITION & RETENTION

  • Annual "Member of the Year" awards
  • Certificate of appreciation for consistent contributors
  • Quarterly updates with stories, stats, and upcoming opportunities
